Shiso + Kaffir Gin “Hot Toddy”

🍵🫚🍋🍊🍃🍸🫖

Every year, January 11 is celebrated as Hot Toddy Day.

The hot toddy, originating in 18th-century Britain, was traditionally made with whisky, hot water, sugar, and spices to fend off winter’s chill. Some believe its name comes from the Hindi word tārī, referring to fermented palm sap. Over time, it gained popularity as a remedy for colds and a soothing nighttime drink. Today, it’s cherished as a comforting symbol of tradition, warmth, and indulgence.

You can add your favorite spices—juniper, star anise, cinnamon, ginger, lime, cloves, and more but here’s how we make it, featuring one of our favorite ingredients:

🍯 ÁGUA MEL 🐝

Água Mel is a traditional Portuguese honey water made from honey production byproducts. Perfect for desserts, tea, recipes, and Cocktails, it represents the purity and tradition of sustainable Portuguese beekeeping.

Made of: water, honeycomb, cinnamon, orange peel and anise seed

🛒🍯You can order Agua mel from our webshop.

🫖🍵How to Prepare the Shiso + Kafgir Gin Hot Toddy:

You can choose your favorite spices and botanicals. But we used this ones:

Add a wheel of lime, a wheel of orange, a spring of thyme, a kaffir lime leaf ( optional), a cinnamon stick, a slice of ginger, a generous drizzle of Água Mel ( about a spoonful) and 40 ml of Shiso + Kafgir Gin to a tea glass.

Fill the glass with boiling water, stir well, and sip immediately.

⚠️ Note: This cocktail is best enjoyed warm. If it cools off, you might regret it! 😆

❗️💊 This drink is meant to warm your spirits, not cure your ailments. However, if a cold is keeping you up, its gentle touch might help you relax and drift into sleep. While inspired by the comforting traditions of hot toddies, this is a cozy treat, not subscription or a substitute for healthcare.
